Argency in the Ginga.ar world
Ginga is a capoeira movement and the free software Argentina chose for its digital TV.

The first training course in digital TV programming in the country’s interior was organized in the Cuyo region by Juventud Sindical Mendoza, and Argency was there.
A course that had the presence of the most relevant technicians and figures at the national level, with the intention of preparing our province as the regional hub for programming and content creation for digital television in the coming years.

The Ginga is a fundamental movement of capoeira, the Brazilian combat dance, but it is also the name given to the open Middleware of the Brazilian Digital TV System (SBTVD), the same one Argentina chose to implement its National Digital TV service.
It is free software that promotes social-digital inclusion and provides a technology that eases citizen access to information and to distance education through TV as an omnipresent medium across the country, in honor of the culture and the fight for the freedom and equality of the people that this capoeira movement represents.
This system will be present in every home as a complementary means for inclusion, with the so-called inclusion applications such as Government, T-Health and T-Learning. In addition, Ginga.ar is an open specification, easy to learn and free of royalties, allowing everyone to produce interactive content, which will give new momentum to community TV stations and to content production in general, promoting citizen participation.

The Ginga.ar software is already installed in the million set-top boxes the Argentine government handed out and is about to be adopted by Venezuela and other countries in the region. The controller is what allows television to behave interactively and “converse” with the Internet (without Ginga.ar, digital television merely receives a signal).
In tune with these advances and with what this new system implies, Mendoza and Cuyo are advocating for technological training, and at Argency we are joining in, betting on the new ways of connecting with the world, working to build a future we are already part of.
